I don't know about you, but whenever MTV and the Jersey Shore come together, the results are less than stellar for our area.

Here's the show summary for Jersey Shore, which begins airing 10 p.m. Dec. 3 on MTV:

"Grab your hair gel, wax that Cadillac and get those tattooed biceps ready to fist pump with the best this summer at the Jersey Shore. MTV's newest docu-soap exposes one of the tri-state area's most misunderstood species, the Guido. Our Guidos and Guidettes will move into the ultimate beach house rental and indulge in everything the Seaside Heights, New Jersey scene has to offer. Beach by day, dancing and partying all night. They'll live, work, and rage together until the summer ends. There's no spray tan too orange, no hair too spiked, and no bod too tight for this crew.''

Now, check out this short clip:

This is so insulting to New Jersey, and all those of Italian descent,  I don't know where to begin.

I hate it.  I will watch it b/c it's funny, but it does not depict our area well at all.  I don't know anyone who is like this and I've lived here my whokle life.  It's just a bunch of bennies, not true Jersey Shore kids.

I might watch it. I like to watch anything Jersey especially when its surrounding places I know.  Speeders has been on the NJ Shore, too.  People watching is "fun" too.  I may know or see someone I've seen before.

I say might because I have a bad memory.  I don't watch ANY music stations so I'd have no reminders.

Ok, first of all I do have to say that this show is going to just serve to give NJ a bad name as it will be braodcast nationwide. Secondly, I will admit that I will most likely watch it.  haha  Thirdly, my husband and a few of our friends have bartended through the years at some of the local hot spots here at the shore.  Now, while this show may be exaggerating these people's personas....these people do actually exist.  Anyone who lives near Point or Seaside or any of the summer tourist towns knows that once Memorial Day hits.....you will see these types of people more and more. And then when Labor Day rolls around..they disappear back to their real lives. They put on the orange self tanner, mousse up their hair, throw on their fist pumping club clothes and jump on the Parkway South to head  "down da shaw" in the summer.  Now, I don't know who should be more insulted by this show...bennies or Italians.  It is offensive on both counts since not all bennies act like this when they come down here and certainly not all Italians act like wanna be Soprano's extras.  All in all though, it just bothers me because even though  some people in Jersey are like this.....not all of us are!  And people who don't live here, don't get that.  They view the whole state as being like Goodfellas.

Learn from the past, live for the present, and plan for the future.

Hey Patti, do you have an email or something for MTV so those who find this stupid and insulting and know this is not the real people of New Jersey can let them know what idiots their programming department are!

I may watch it but I so agree on the MTV going back to videos thing.  I loved MTV in the 80s-90s but they just have crap on now.

When I talk to my friends who live in other parts of the country and world they laugh at me for living in NJ - thanks to shows like this one, Real HouseWives and the Sopranos.  It really does not put us in a good light. But I think it's funny I will probably watch it - back in the 90's I dated one to many north Jersey Guidos.
